The Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS) is set to kick off in Qatar from 7 October to 14 October, marking its first-ever hosting outside its traditional location in Switzerland. Among the more than 30 automobile brands expected at the event, five companies stand out, making their initial appearances.

JAECOO and OMODA

Chery, a Chinese car manufacturer, recently unveiled its subsidiaries, OMODA and JAECOO, as standalone brands. Both brands target a youthful, forward-looking audience, but with different objectives. OMODA prioritizes a blend of minimalistic and futuristic designs, as demonstrated by their electric OMODA 5 e-QUA model which has already received significant online attention.

JAECOO, on the other hand, leans towards off-road vehicles, with models such as the JAECOO 7 and JAECOO 9 showcasing designs tailored for outdoor adventures, like their unique waterfall-like front grille.

A collaboration between the Chinese Geely Holding Group and Swedish Volvo Cars, Lynk & Co emphasizes innovative designs and sustainable energy. Although the brand boasts seven models in China and operates in several countries, its primary international offering is the 01 compact SUV.

The vehicle has garnered praise for its elegant interior, technological advancements, and overall performance. Lynk & Co has plans to expand its presence throughout the GCC countries, including Qatar, in the coming year.

Lucid Motors

Claiming to be a leader in fancy electric cars, Lucid Motors has been making huge progress this year. Its Lucid Air model was crowned the 2023 Luxury Car of the Year, outpacing competitors like the BMW 7 Series i7. The company also recently showcased the Lucid Air luxury electric sedan, including the limited-production Air Midnight Dream Edition, which is expected to be a highlight at the GIMS in Qatar.

Originating from Afghanistan, Entop has captured worldwide attention with its supercar crafted by Afghan engineers. Introduced earlier this year, Entop's premier supercar, the Mada 9, continues to intrigue many. Powered by a modified 2000 Toyota Corolla engine, this vehicle is among the most awaited highlights of the event. Beyond automobiles, Entop has ambitions to pioneer in clean energy and lithium battery sectors. Even with financial challenges, Entop's founder, Mohammed Reza Ahmadi, is set to showcase Afghan automotive excellence at GIMS, thanks to over $100,000 fund from supporters.
