Doha Film Festival 2025 to Open With “The Voice of Hind Rajab”

The Doha Film Festival is back this November, and it’s opening on a powerful note. From November 20–28, 2025, the festival will spotlight global cinema with its first screening: The Voice of Hind Rajab by award-winning Tunisian director Kaouther Ben Hania.

The story behind the film

The film tells the heartbreaking final moments of Hind Rajab, a young Palestinian girl trapped under military fire. Blending real emergency call recordings with scripted performances, the movie is both gut-wrenching and unforgettable. It recently won the Silver Lion Grand Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival and is Tunisia’s official entry for the 98th Academy Awards.

Big names on board

Hollywood heavyweights like Brad Pitt, Joaquin Phoenix, Rooney Mara, and Alfonso Cuarón have signed on as Executive Producers, showing just how much global attention the film has drawn.

Festival details

Running across Doha’s most iconic locations—Katara Cultural Village, Msheireb Downtown, and the Museum of Islamic Art—the festival promises screenings, events, and conversations that celebrate cinema as a force for truth and connection.
