Aman Center in Qatar Hosts a Conference on Child Helplines

The event falls on the International Day of Child Helplines, which is celebrated on May 17 by the International Organization of Child Helplines.

The International Conference on Child Helplines was held on Monday at Qatar's Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center (Aman) in an effort to mobilize global and regional efforts to protect children.

Over 250 individuals attended the two-day event, which included representatives from 30 international and regional organizations, decision-makers, academics, and specialists from all over the world.

The inauguration was also attended by a group of international and local dignitaries led by Jaap E Doek, chairman of the International Child Helpline Organization's Board of Directors, and Chancellor Dr. Abdulaziz bin Saud al-Subaie, chairman of the International Organization for Child Protection's Board of Directors in Brussels.

Participants explored how to improve child helplines and the social protection system to ensure a safe world for everyone, including those who may not have a voice.

"The conference is a watershed moment for the Aman Center's vision and mission in promoting child protection and social rehabilitation, guided by the best international and regional practices," said Executive Director Abdul Aziz al-Ishaq, who received the Distinguished Arab Personality Award in the field of child protection for 2022.

"It is a reinforcement of the Aman Center's efforts in its prominent position as the global and regional leader of civil society organizations in the field of child support lines," he added.

The first day of the conference focused on Qatar's strategy and experience in the field of child protection, as well as services provided to people who are victims of abuse.

Experts also discussed the difficulties of operating in the field of child helplines with the International Organization of Child Helplines, as well as the emergency reaction to support children in need.

Abused children in Qatar require better support services, according to the family.

In six primary sessions, over 20 keynote speakers from diverse countries shared their experiences to assist individuals in need of protection. They also shared their country's experiences in order to come up with fresh child support solutions.

During the event, the national center unveiled one of its most important projects: the 'Aman Shield' platform, which provides a wealth of information on treatment, rehabilitation, and care for the target groups.

Aman also stated that it looked after Nayef al-Hail, the child of the color recognition robot's designer and that the robot will be customized for specific cases of young people who have been subjected to violence.

Children assisted in the management of several programs as part of the Aman Center's unique concept.
