Forbes Middle East has recognized three Qatari leaders in its yearly ranking of the region’s Top 100 Travel and Tourism Leaders for 2023. This recognition reflects Qatar's rising prominence and influence in the industry.

Qatar Airways Group CEO, Akbar Al Baker, secured a prominent position in the Forbes Middle East's annual ranking of the Top 100 Travel and Tourism Leaders for 2023, claiming the second spot on the list. This recognition highlights Al Baker's exceptional leadership within Qatar Airways Group and further emphasizes his influential role in the industry.

Akbar Al Baker's high ranking in the Top 100 Travel and Tourism Leaders list by Forbes Middle East is attributed to various factors such as the size of the operation he manages, asset ownership, extensive career experience, and significant industry influence.

Nasser Matar Al Kuwari, who recently took over as the CEO of Katara Hospitality in January 2023, secured the 22nd position on the influential leader's list. This recognition acknowledges Al Kuwari's growing influence within the sector.

Badr Mohammed Al Meer, the COO of Hamad International Airport, further reinforces Qatar's position in the regional travel and tourism industry by being listed as the 31st most influential leader.

According to Forbes Middle East's 2023 list, the hospitality sector, including hotels and resorts, dominated with 59 entries, showcasing its significance in the industry. The aviation sector, including airlines and airports, followed closely with 31 entries, reflecting its prominent presence.

The Middle East's growing prominence on the global stage is clear through its hosting of prestigious sporting events like the Formula One Grand Prix in countries such as Qatar, Bahrain, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia. These high-profile events further establish the Middle East as a major player in the international arena.
