Trump Denies Reports Iran Nuclear Sites Survived US Strikes

Former US President Donald Trump pushed back on Wednesday against reports from American media and leaked intelligence suggesting that recent US airstrikes on Iran did not destroy the country’s nuclear infrastructure, as he previously claimed.

Trump, posting on his platform Truth Social, blasted CNN and The New York Times, accusing them of downplaying what he described as one of the most successful military missions in history.

“FAKE NEWS CNN, TOGETHER WITH THE FAILING NEW YORK TIMES, HAVE TEAMED UP IN AN ATTEMPT TO DEMEAN ONE OF THE MOST SUCCESSFUL MILITARY STRIKES IN HISTORY,” he wrote.

Media and Intel Say Iran’s Nuclear Program Still Intact

According to unnamed US officials cited in media outlets, a classified intelligence report concluded that Sunday’s strikes did not fully destroy Iran’s nuclear centrifuges or its stockpile of enriched uranium. Instead, the attack may have only delayed Iran’s program by a few months—far from the “total destruction” Trump had announced earlier.

Trump Maintains Nuclear Sites Were “Completely Destroyed”

Despite the conflicting assessments, Trump doubled down on his earlier statement, insisting that the strikes “obliterated Iran’s ability to create nuclear weapons” and that “massive bombs hit exactly the right spot.”

White House Confirms Leaked Document, Disputes Its Accuracy

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt acknowledged the intelligence cited in the reports was legitimate but stood by Trump’s claim. She said the document was “flat-out wrong” and criticized the leak of a top-secret report to the media.

What This Means

The back-and-forth highlights ongoing tensions not just between the US and Iran, but also between the Trump camp and major news outlets. With the 2024 elections still casting a long shadow, expect more heated narratives and fact-checking battles ahead.
