According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Snap Inc. has selected the Jax cultural district in Diriyah to establish its Saudi base and a content creator studio as part of a new agreement signed with the Ministry of Culture.

With almost 20 million active users, Snapchat is a growing platform in Saudi Arabia. While supporting the ministry in reaching a huge user base to advertise its programs, projects, and promotional campaigns, the visual messaging app provides the Saudi community of content creators with a unique platform to interact with its many features and resources.

The Jax district, which is regarded as the Kingdom's city's best creative hub, is home to galleries, studios, and facilities that promote both artists and their work while fueling the culture of the country. An agreement between the Saudi government and Snap Inc. aims for the use of augmented reality (AR) technologies across the ministry's portfolio of initiatives and projects as well as the training of local talent in order to use Snapchat's unique features.

The agreement is an outcome of the ministry's efforts to develop relationships with the public, private, and nonprofit sectors in order to develop the country's cultural scene across its diverse fields. This includes maximizing the use of cutting-edge technologies, which is a key area of the Quality of Life program for Vision 2030.

Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, Minister of Culture, and Evan Spiegel, CEO of Snapchat, were present as the contract was signed in Jax District. Hamed Fayez, deputy minister of culture, and Ben Schwerin, senior vice president of content and partnerships at Snap Inc., inked the agreement.
