Qatar has been ranked among the top three Gulf states in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region for the health sector.

According to a report from the Investment Promotion Agency Qatar, Qatar has the highest per capita healthcare expenditure among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, amounting to $1.8 billion.

Qatar's pharmaceutical industry is experiencing significant growth and attracting foreign investment. This is due to Qatar's competitive business landscape, strong healthcare infrastructure, and substantial funding allocated to research and development.

Despite that the global healthcare system, including the pharmaceutical industry, was significantly hit by the Covid-19 pandemic, Qatar has demonstrated strong resilience and adaptability. The country has managed to attract international pharmaceutical investments and drive advancements in the industry.

The Qatar National Health Strategy 2018-2022 has been instrumental in Qatar's accomplishments in the healthcare sector. The strategy focused on advancing healthcare services and promoting private sector engagement, supported by the government's dedication to maintaining a steady increase in health expenditure and private healthcare investments.
