HH The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani met with US President Donald Trump on Saturday at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, marking a key moment in ongoing diplomatic engagement between the two allies.

HH The Amir welcomed President Trump and his accompanying delegation, expressing his pleasure at meeting the US leader during his stopover in Qatar. He reaffirmed Qatar’s enduring commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, noting his intent to further advance the partnership between the two countries and elevate it to new heights.

For his part, President Trump expressed gratitude for the warm reception, praising Sheikh Tamim’s role and Qatar’s supportive efforts toward peace and security in the region. He also emphasized his desire to deepen cooperation across multiple sectors, commending the robust ties between the United States and Qatar.

During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to enhance strategic cooperation between the two countries and addressed key regional and global developments — particularly the ongoing situation in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories. The discussions focused on supporting peace in the region and ensuring the full implementation of the agreement to end the war in Gaza.

The meeting was attended by Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Chief of the Amiri Diwan HE Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi, and several senior officials. On the US side, the delegation included Secretary of State Marco Rubio and other high-ranking members of the President’s team.

“I am happy to meet you, my friend, US President Donald Trump, today on the occasion of you and your accompanying delegation’s stopover to our country as part of your Asian tour. It was a good opportunity to discuss peace plans in the Middle East, follow up on the implementation of the agreement to end the war in Gaza, and discuss prospects for strategic cooperation between our two friendly nations.”

The meeting underscored Qatar’s ongoing diplomatic role in regional peace initiatives and its commitment to reinforcing its strategic alliance with the United States.
