Typhoon Tino Exits PAR After Leaving Over 150 Dead — Philippines’ Strongest Storm of 2025 So Far

After days of chaos, Typhoon Tino — the deadliest storm to hit the Philippines this 2025 — has officially left the country’s area of responsibility early Thursday, November 6.
PAGASA said Tino exited PAR at around 12:30 a.m., though Signal No. 1 remains up over the Kalayaan Islands as strong winds continue to whip the area.

As of 4 a.m., the storm was spotted 265 kilometers north-northwest of Pag-asa Island, Kalayaan, Palawan, speeding toward Vietnam at 35 kilometers per hour. It peaked with winds of 155 km/h and gusts up to 190 km/h before gradually weakening as it moved west.

Deadly Impact Across the Visayas

Local reports confirm that at least 150 people lost their lives in Tino’s onslaught — with the worst-hit areas including Cebu province (99 deaths), Cebu City (9), Negros Occidental (24), Negros Oriental (12), and Agusan del Sur (6).
Officials warn that the death toll could still rise as rescue and clearing operations continue in heavily affected communities.

At its strongest, Tino triggered Signal No. 4 warnings and brought torrential rains and destructive winds that flattened homes, flooded cities, and knocked out power in several provinces.

What’s Next: Rains, Winds, and Rough Seas

While the storm is now out of PAR, its outer rainbands and the northeast monsoon are still bringing gusty winds and rain to parts of Luzon and the Visayas, including Batanes, Ilocos Norte, Pangasinan, Zambales, and Palawan.

PAGASA also warned of rough sea conditions, especially around Kalayaan Islands, Palawan, Ilocos, and Batanes, where waves could reach up to 4 meters high. Small boats are advised to stay ashore until conditions improve.

Another Storm Brewing Outside PAR

Even as Tino moves toward Vietnam, PAGASA is already tracking another tropical cyclone — Tropical Storm Fung-wong, still outside PAR but gradually strengthening. The weather bureau expects 2 to 3 more storms to enter or form within PAR this November.
