New Evaluation Policy to Be Introduced to Limit Student Failures

According to the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, a new evaluation policy has been conducted to reduce the number of student failures at public schools.

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has recently announced that a series of changes will be implemented starting from the ongoing academic year, 2022-2023.

These modifications aim to reduce academic failures by providing assistance to students who face difficulties in their learning process. Khalid Abdullah Al Harqan, the Assistant Undersecretary for Evaluation Affairs at the Ministry, has confirmed the launch of these changes with the objective of supporting struggling students.

According to Al Harqan, this particular initiative is just one among several measures implemented by the Ministry to help students. These support programs will be conducted within classrooms and are aimed at enhancing students' performance in areas where they face challenges.

With the latest evaluation policy, “a student of grade 12 (day, adult education, parallel) who is absent (with an acceptable excuse) from the first-semester exam in one or more subjects is allowed to apply for the supplementary exam,” Al Harqan said.

“A student of grade 12 who is absent (with an acceptable excuse) from the exam of the first semester and supplement in one or more subjects is not allowed to take the exam at the end of the second semester in these subjects, and he is allowed to appear in the exam of the second round,” he noted.
