Under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, Prime Minister, and Minister of Interior, on Thursday 15 September, the new emblem of the State of Qatar was inaugurated.

Dr Mohamed Noemi Al-Hajri, the official spokesman for the Government Communications Office, said - through his account on Twitter: "In line with the comprehensive developmental achievements, the new emblem of the State of Qatar was launched today under the patronage and presence of His Excellency the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior."

He explained that the new emblem of the State of Qatar carries several goals, including organizing communication operations with a unified visual identity, and highlighting and consolidating the institutional identity of the State of Qatar locally, regionally and internationally.

He added that the regulatory framework for using the emblem will be in two phases. The first phase will include providing the Government Communications Office with all the required assets for ministries through a unified digital platform.

In the second phase, the Government Communications Office will expand the scope of the identity application to include all government institutions and bodies and the country's embassies abroad.

The Government Communications Office published - through its Twitter account - a video explaining the journey of the national emblem of the State of Qatar, saying: "Our past contributes greatly to shaping our present.

The journey of the national emblem of the State of Qatar is a testimony to the preservation of our heritage, and an extended journey towards development and the future.”

The Boat

The boat symbolizes the first traditional motor-powered boat in the history of the State of Qatar, and it was called "Fath al-Khair".

The Palm Tree

One of the most important features of the palm tree used in the emblem is that it is of the "Ratb al-Ikhlas" variety, and it is located on the farm of the Emir Father Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani - may God have mercy on him - in the area of Lashra.
