The Emir of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, performed funeral prayers for the martyrs of homeland duty who lost their lives in the recent Israeli attack on Doha.
The solemn ceremony took place on Thursday, September 11, at the Imam Muhammad ibn Abd Al Wahhab Mosque in Doha, reflecting Qatar’s grief and reverence for those who died.
Key members of the Qatari royal family and the state participated in the prayers. Present were His Highness Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani, represented by the Amir’s Personal Representative; HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al-Thani; HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al-Thani; and HE Sheikh Jassim bin Khalifa Al-Thani. Alongside them, ministers, senior officials, dignitaries, and large numbers of citizens and residents joined the funeral gathering.
Following the prayers, the bodies were laid to rest at Mesaimeer Cemetery. The Amir offered his deepest condolences to the families of the martyrs, asking for God’s mercy upon those who perished and praying for their souls to rest in eternal peace.
Qatar’s Ministry of Interior had earlier announced the time and place of the funeral prayer, stating that it would occur after the Asr prayer at Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Wahhab Mosque, followed by burial in Mesaimeer Cemetery. Among the deceased was Corporal Badr Saad Mohammed Al-Humaidi Al-Dosari of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), described as a “Martyr of Duty.”
The ceremony underlined both national unity and mourning. Beyond religious rites, it served as a public expression of resistance and grief in face of the Israeli strike. Citizens and residents turned out in large numbers, showing solidarity and support for the martyrs’ families.
In publicly addressing the loss, the Amir emphasized compassion and remembrance. He asked for Allah’s mercy for the fallen and prayed that their sacrifice be honored. The state’s response underscores the gravity of the attack and Qatar’s intention to stand firm in its national identity and dignity.
The funeral prayers and burial join a series of responses by the government of Qatar condemning the attack, offering solace to affected families, and making clear that such events will not diminish national resolve. The mourning is deeply felt across the country, and the leadership’s involvement emphasizes state responsibility and communal solidarity.
