Despite his resignation as Qatar's Prime Minister, Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani will continue serving as the country's Minister of Interior. Sheikh Khalid was appointed to his former position in January 2020, after having served as the Chief of the Amiri Diwan between 2014 and 2020, as well as the director of the Amir's office since the current Amir came into power.

Meanwhile, the new Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, has been the Foreign Minister of Qatar since 2016 and was promoted to Deputy Prime Minister in 2017.
