Qatari Martyr from Doha Attack Honored Posthumously
Honoring the Sacrifice of Martyr Badr Al-Dosari: From Doha Attack to Posthumous Honor
In a solemn gesture reflecting national gratitude, the State of Qatar has posthumously promoted Martyr Badr Saad Mohammed Al Humaidi Al Dosari to the rank of Second Lieutenant, recognizing his ultimate sacrifice in the face of adversity.
This promotion follows a harrowing attack in Doha in which Al Dosari lost his life while performing his duty — an act of valor that Qatar now memorializes with formal distinction.
The promotion, issued under the directives of H.H. the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, underscores the state’s commitment to honoring those who lay down their lives for the homeland. In addition to the rank elevation, Al Dosari was awarded the Martyr’s Medal, Gallantry Medal, Military Duty Medal, and the Bravery Badge — each symbolizing the highest values of loyalty, courage, and selflessness.
The ceremony granting these honors was held to commemorate the sacrifices of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) members, reflecting the deep regard held for those who protect the nation’s security and stability amid turbulent circumstances. The event was attended by key dignitaries, including the Minister of Interior and Commander of Lekhwiya, Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
Further reinforcing the symbolic weight of this tribute, the decision extended to other officers and personnel who mirrored Al Dosari’s spirit of heroism. Officers received the Gallantry Medal, Military Duty Medal, and Bravery Badge with two years of seniority; non-commissioned officers were similarly honored with an additional three years’ seniority; while personnel also received medals and insignia in recognition of outstanding duty.
This posthumous recognition serves not only as a testament to Al Dosari’s bravery but also as a reaffirmation of Qatar’s resolve: that the blood of martyrs must not fade into oblivion. In elevating his rank and bestowing these high honors, the state conveys a message of eternal remembrance — that those who fall defending the homeland will be enshrined in national memory, and their legacy will inspire present and future generations.
