Singapore named the national famous orchid flower after Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.

The move showcased the strong collaboration between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Singapore.

“The Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong gifted His Excellency the Singaporean flower, during the ceremony of naming the famous flower after His Excellency. The gift comes as an expression of the depth of cooperation between Qatar and Singapore,” stated the social media handle of Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

As part of Singapore's efforts to foster goodwill among visiting heads of state and world leaders, Sheikh Mohammed is the most recent leader to be honored with a "orchid-naming ceremony."
