Qatar Tourism Launches David Beckham's Campaign to Visit Qatar

Football star David Beckham has taken part in a new ad to promote tourism in Qatar less than three months before it is scheduled to hold the biggest athletic event in history.

The new Visit Qatar commercial, which attempts to promote a variety of destinations in Qatar for travelers making stopovers, features the former footballer turned manager, who was just named an ambassador for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

For the month-long World Cup in November, Qatar anticipates welcoming more than 1.2 million people and has made significant investments to boost tourism across the country.

According to Akbar Al Baker, chairman of Qatar Tourism and group CEO of Qatar Airways, "we have something for everyone at an incredible value, whether it's sun, sea, sand, rich heritage and culture, or a modern and fun city break," noting the idea is to encourage all visitors to Doha to follow in the footsteps of Beckham.

Here is a fast guide on what to see and do in Qatar for anyone within 48 hours, from meeting the nation's most accomplished artists to riding a motorcycle across Pearl Island.

Souq Waqif, which was constructed on the site of Doha's century-old trading market, sits in a traditional location against the city's striking modernist cityscape.

The market, with its mud-daubed structures, evokes a bygone period while continuing to be a focus of activity where business and street life intersect.

The self-described cultural village of Katara is tucked between the half-moon buildings of The Pearl residential neighborhood and West Bay's sparkling business area.

Doha's preferred location for art, culture, and gastronomy is Katara, which is bordered by a sizable beach on one side and the twin Katara Hills on the other.

The Pearl

A man-made island named Qatar is located close to Doha's West Bay neighborhood. The region offers an opulent shopping experience in addition to residential towers, villas, and Mediterranean-style yacht-lined marinas.

The island is also home to cutting-edge restaurants, offering everything from delectable ice cream to five-star culinary experiences. It also stands out for its numerous landscaped gardens and pedestrian-friendly squares and plazas.

Inland Sea

The southern region of Qatar contains the "Inland Sea," also known as Khor Al Adaid, which is a site recognized by UNESCO. One of the rare locations in the world where the sea touches the desert is the Inland Sea.

Nothing compares to a camel ride over the gentle dunes followed by an adventurous desert safari across the dunes to Khor Al Adaid, which is only accessible by 4x4 vehicles, for a truly authentic desert experience.
