Earth’s Oxygen Could One Day Collapse And Most Life Wouldn’t Survive

The oxygen that we breathe seems like a permanent part of our world, but a series of scientific models shows that there are some bad news for Earth's easily breathable atmosphere: it has a life limit. The Great Oxidation Event changed Earth from an inhospitable place to a flourishing complex organism playground 4 billion years ago. An extreme turnaround is unavoidable, though, according to far-future simulations. A catastrophic deoxygenation will occur as our sun goes through ageing and return earth to an anaerobic state, killing most complex life.
