At least 12 people were killed and several others injured in a suicide bombing outside a court building in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, on Tuesday, according to Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi.
The explosion occurred near the entrance of the Islamabad district court, a site often bustling with lawyers, officials, and litigants. “We are investigating this incident from different angles. It is not just another bombing. It happened right in Islamabad,” Naqvi told reporters at the scene.
According to the minister, the attacker arrived on foot and lingered near a police vehicle for about 10 to 15 minutes before detonating the explosive device. The blast struck just outside the court complex, sending shockwaves across the city.
A hospital source confirmed that several of the injured remain in critical condition, and emergency teams continue to treat victims. Graphic images shared by local media showed people covered in blood lying next to a police van amid the wreckage.
Authorities have cordoned off the area, and security forces are conducting a detailed investigation to determine who was behind the attack.
The bombing marks one of the most serious security incidents in Islamabad in recent months, raising renewed concerns about extremist activity and public safety in Pakistan’s capital.
