The hospital, which was established in 2019 under the direction of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, father of Qatar’s current Emir Sheikh Tamim, is one of the few remaining medical facilities still operating in Gaza. It offers vital rehabilitation services, including care for hearing, balance, and prosthetics, to those injured in the ongoing conflict.
Qatar issued a firm statement on Monday, accusing Israel of deliberately targeting civilians, medical centers, and shelters for displaced families. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the bombing of Hamad Hospital as part of “a war of genocide against the brotherly Palestinian people.”
Jordan echoed Qatar’s condemnation. Sufian Qudah, spokesperson for the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, denounced Israel’s use of starvation and blockades to force Palestinian displacement. He also warned that Israel’s actions in Gaza and the West Bank pose a serious threat to the entire region’s stability and security.
Both countries called on the international community to step up, take responsibility, and immediately work to stop the war in Gaza.
The strike on Hamad Hospital came as Israel intensified its military operations in the Gaza Strip on Sunday. Several hospitals across the enclave were hit over the past week. These include the Indonesian Hospital in Beit Lahia, one of the largest still partially functioning in northern Gaza, as well as the Gaza European Hospital in Khan Yunis and the Kuwait Specialized Hospital in Rafah in the south.
As conditions worsen and medical infrastructure continues to crumble, pressure is mounting on the international community to intervene and prevent further loss of life.
