Qatar's Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and Microsoft launched on Tuesday, February 21st, OpenAI GPT (Generative Pretrained Transformer) technology on Azure Qatar Cloud.

Developed by OpenAI, GPT is a neural network machine learning model trained using internet data to generate any type of text. 

This move will enable government entities to innovate and develop advanced applications that use AI, data and analytics, IoT and hybrid capabilities, and advanced digital security in their daily operations.

Launching the OpenAI GPT feature comes in line with the ministry's initiatives to provide forward technology to government organizations and support their digital transformation.

Qatar's official online information and e-service site "Hukoomi" will be among the first portals in the region to adopt OpenAI GPT capabilities through Azure Qatar. 

This will enhance user experience, and improve the quality and performance of the website.

Microsoft Azure debuted its long-awaited new cloud region in Doha in August 2022.
