Qatar's Ministry of Interior has launched a Public Warning System, which will send the warning notifications through smartphones to the public in case of emergencies and natural disasters.

The warning message will be sent in both Arabic and English and the message will be accompanied by a vibration and a ringtone to alert the receivers. 

The Public Warning System underwent trial run on Monday, Nov. 6 as part of the Watan Exercise 2023 when government safety and security personnel underwent trainign exercises to practice readiness in the face of potential risks. 

The Watan Exercise 2023 will run until Wednesday, Nov. 8.
