Thinking of relocating to Doha? Qatar just made the move a lot more tempting.

At Web Summit Qatar 2026, the country announced two new long-term residency visa options aimed at senior executives and entrepreneurs looking to build, invest, or expand businesses in Qatar.

Two New Visas, One Big Goal

The announcement was made by Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, as part of an expansion of the Qatar Investment Authority’s Fund of Funds programme.

The goal is simple: attract experienced leaders, founders, and innovators who can help grow Qatar’s business ecosystem.

Who These New Visas Are For

The new visa categories are designed for entrepreneurs and senior executives with strong professional backgrounds and clear business plans in Qatar.

Successful applicants can expect longer stays, smoother renewals, and better access to local business support.

Visa Option 1: Entrepreneur Residency

If you’re building something from the ground up, this one’s for you. To qualify, applicants need:

  • An official endorsement from a recognised Qatar-based business incubator

  • A bank balance of at least QAR 36,500 (or equivalent) maintained over the last three months

This visa is aimed at founders and innovators ready to launch or scale their ventures locally.

Visa Option 2: Executive Residency

Senior leaders with established careers can apply under the executive track. Requirements include:

  • A minimum salary of QAR 50,000 for roles like CEO, CFO, COO, CTO, or Chairman

  • QAR 80,000 minimum salary for other executive director roles

  • At least five years of senior management experience, inside or outside Qatar

  • A valid employment contract with an approved company in Qatar

Eligible employers include listed companies, licensed banks, insurance firms, and consulting companies working with government or semi-government entities.

Extra Perks That Come With It

Beyond residency, the visas come with added benefits like access to incubators and accelerators, plus incentives aimed at lowering the cost of living and supporting long-term settlement.

How to Apply

Applications for the new long-term residency visas can be submitted through the Qatar Manpower Solutions & Co. (Jusoor) portal.
