Qatar has sharply criticised Israel’s move to seize full control of the Gaza Strip, calling it a “dangerous escalation” that could worsen the already devastating humanitarian crisis in the war-torn enclave.
In a statement issued Friday, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned that the decision would only compound the catastrophic consequences of the conflict and derail efforts toward a permanent ceasefire.
Calls for Urgent Global Action
Qatar urged the international community to step up, stressing its “legal and moral responsibilities” in preventing the implementation of the Israeli plan. The ministry called for unified global opposition to what it described as “continued violations of international humanitarian law" and UN resolutions.
In particular, Doha condemned the reported use of starvation and the blocking of food supplies as tactics of warfare against civilians, urging immediate intervention to end such practices.
Humanitarian Aid Concerns
The Foreign Ministry’s statement emphasised the need for unhindered, safe, and sustainable humanitarian aid access to Gaza, where the conflict has already left hundreds of thousands struggling to survive.
Qatar also called for Israel to be held accountable for its actions, warning that the situation risks spiralling further without concrete international measures.
Firm Stand on Palestinian Rights
Reaffirming its long-standing support for the Palestinian cause, Qatar reiterated its backing of the two-state solution — with an independent Palestinian state along 1967 borders and East Jerusalem as its capital.
