Following the tragic Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad that killed over 200 people, Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani sent a message of condolence and solidarity to Indian leaders. He addressed his sympathies to Indian President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expressing sorrow over the massive loss of life.

Over 200 Killed in Crash Minutes After Takeoff

The crash occurred on 12 June 2025, when Air India Flight AI 171 crashed just minutes after departing from Ahmedabad Airport, en route to London Gatwick. The aircraft had 242 people onboard, including passengers and crew.

According to authorities, the plane hit a residential area and a university building belonging to a medical college located near the airport. Police and military-backed rescue teams recovered 204 bodies, which include both passengers and people who were on the ground when the crash happened.
