Qatar Leads GCC Games 2026 with Record 134 Medals

The 4th GCC Games Doha 2026 ended in style after 12 days of competitions, with Qatar finishing as the top performer.
Qatar dominated the medal chart with an impressive tally of 134 medals — 48 gold, 50 silver, and 36 bronze. This marked Qatar’s best showing ever at the Gulf Games.
The event highlighted Qatar’s growing excellence in sports, showcasing strong participation from the Gulf region, paired with excellent organization.
Mohammed bin Yousef Al Mana, First Vice-President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, called the event “an outstanding success on both organisational and sporting levels.”
He said the Games fostered unity and friendship among Gulf nations under the theme “One Gulf, One Heart,” bringing young athletes closer together.
Al Mana praised Qatar’s ability to host high-quality international events thanks to its advanced facilities and vast organisational expertise.
He acknowledged Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, in contributing to the event’s success and expressed gratitude to delegations, volunteers, and supporters.
Sheikh Khalifa bin Khalid Al Thani, Director General of the Organising Committee, called the Games “an exceptional Gulf sporting event that reflected the remarkable development achieved by sport across the GCC countries.”
He stressed the importance of teamwork, coordination among organisers, and cooperation from participating delegations in delivering an extraordinary event.
“We were committed from the beginning to delivering an exceptional edition that symbolizes Qatar’s organisational strength and expertise. The Games succeeded in showcasing professional planning, world-class venues, and an exciting competitive atmosphere,” Sheikh Khalifa said.
He also highlighted how the Games revealed promising Gulf talent and reinforced the values of sportsmanship. “What we witnessed in terms of sportsmanship and fair competition among the athletes reflects the true values of Gulf sport and confirms the deep brotherly relations that unite the peoples of the GCC countries,” he added.
Sheikh Khalifa thanked organisers, volunteers, and supporters while praising the enthusiastic public turnout and media coverage. He reiterated Qatar’s commitment to promoting Gulf sports and supporting athletes in future regional and global events.
