Inspired by the desert lynx, the new mascot joins the "One Gulf… One Heart" campaign as Doha prepares to host over 1,000 athletes for the fourth Gulf Games.

The stage is set for the fourth Gulf Games, "Doha 2026," as the organizing committee has officially unveiled the tournament's mascot and confirmed that all logistical preparations are complete ahead of the event's opening.

In a press conference held on May 3, 2026, the committee announced that the official mascot is inspired by the desert lynx, a creature chosen to symbolize the region's unique natural environment and the agility required in competitive sports. Alongside the mascot reveal, the committee introduced the tournament's logo, which embodies the spirit of cultural interdependence among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The visual identity is anchored by the slogan "One Gulf… One Heart," reflecting themes of unity, balance, and professionalism.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Saud Al Thani, Chairman of the Marketing and Communication Committee, emphasized that the tournament is more than just a sporting event; it is an opportunity to build an integrated identity that mirrors the region's uniqueness. Speaking at the press conference, he stated that the games aim to promote common values among GCC nations within a competitive framework that blends sportsmanship with cultural convergence.

"The logistical preparations have been completed to ensure the successful organization of all events," Sheikh Abdullah confirmed. He added that a multi-stage marketing campaign is underway to maximize attendance and fan interaction, culminating in the opening ceremony scheduled for Monday evening, May 5, 2026, at the Al Shaqab Indoor Arena.

The upcoming edition of the Gulf Games promises to be the largest yet, featuring 1,074 male and female athletes from across the GCC countries. These competitors will battle for glory in 19 different sports disciplines.

The committee also announced a robust list of sponsors and strategic partners committed to supporting the event's success. Among the participating nations, Qatar is fielding a massive contingent. Najla Al-Khayarin, head of the Qatari administrative delegation, revealed that the country has registered more than 300 players. She expressed the delegation's aspiration to deliver a distinguished performance that meets the high expectations of sports fans across the region.

As Doha gears up for the May 11–22 event, the combination of a strong logistical foundation, a unifying cultural message, and the excitement of over a thousand athletes suggests that "Doha 2026" will be a landmark celebration of Gulf sportsmanship.
