The announcement was made during a joint press conference by the Ministries of Defense, Interior and Foreign Affairs addressing the repercussions of the Iranian missile attack on Qatar.

65 ballistic missiles, 12 drones detected

Lieutenant Colonel Nasser Mohammed Al Kubaisi, Acting Director of the Directorate of Moral Guidance at the Ministry of Defense, said the Armed Forces detected 65 ballistic missiles and 12 drones launched from Iran in successive waves, with the first detection recorded at 11:39 local time.

According to Al Kubaisi, 63 missiles and 11 drones were intercepted before reaching their targets. However, two missiles reached Al Udeid Air Base, and one drone struck an early warning radar system. No casualties were reported as a result of those impacts.

He stressed that the Qatari Armed Forces possess significant capabilities to safeguard the sovereignty and territory of the State and respond firmly to any external threat.

Eight injured, material damage reported

Major-General Abdullah Khalifa Al Muftah, Director of the Public Relations Department at the Ministry of Interior, confirmed that eight people were injured in the attack. Four individuals remain hospitalized, including one in critical condition, while four others were treated and discharged.

He added that the missile strikes caused material damage to public and private property. Authorities handled 114 reports of falling debris across northern, southern, central and western regions of the country.

The Ministry of Interior activated early warning messages via mobile phones, instructing citizens, residents and visitors to remain indoors and avoid leaving their homes except in cases of absolute necessity until the danger had passed.

Al Muftah urged the public to rely exclusively on official sources for information, avoid spreading rumours, and refrain from photographing or publishing images of the aftermath to avoid legal accountability. He also called on residents not to approach unknown objects or debris and to report them immediately via the emergency hotline (999).

He noted that Qatar’s integrated security and operational system remains at the highest level of readiness, supported by advanced monitoring systems and round-the-clock operations rooms to ensure rapid response.

Qatar condemns violation of sovereignty

Ibrahim Sultan Al Hashmi, Director of the Media and Communication Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said Qatar strongly and unequivocally condemned the targeting of its territory with Iranian ballistic missiles, describing it as a flagrant violation of national sovereignty and a serious escalation threatening regional stability.

He stated that Qatar reserves its full and legitimate right to respond in accordance with international law and the United Nations Charter, in a manner proportionate to the nature and scale of the attack.

Al Hashmi reiterated that Qatar has consistently called for dialogue with Iran and views responsible dialogue as the optimal path to resolving disputes and preventing further escalation.

He also expressed Qatar’s condemnation of violations of the sovereignty of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan, affirming solidarity with those states.

Qatar extended condolences to the family of a Pakistani national killed by falling shrapnel in Abu Dhabi and to the governments of the UAE and Pakistan.

The Foreign Ministry renewed its call for the immediate cessation of military escalation and a return to negotiations, warning that continued confrontation risks broader regional instability with serious consequences for international peace and security.
