Akram Afif and Rising Stars Shine at QFA Awards 2025

Football greatness took center stage in Qatar as the QFA Awards 2025 lit up Doha on May 26 — celebrating the country’s standout players, coaches, referees, and fans who’ve raised the bar this season.

Leading the charge was Akram Afif, the Al-Sadd superstar, who snagged the Best Player Award for the 2024/2025 season. This marks his second win in a row and an impressive fifth overall, cementing his legacy as one of Qatar’s finest.

Joining him in the winners’ circle was Félix Sánchez, head coach of Al-Sadd, who took home Best Coach, and Meshaal Barsham, Al-Sadd’s ace goalkeeper, who won the Best Goalkeeper Award in its inaugural year.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Manaai from Al Shamal Club made waves as the Best U-23 Player, signaling a bright future for Qatar’s youth talent pipeline.

Roger Guedes, Al Rayyan’s attacking force, scored big with the Mansour Muftah Top Scorer Award after netting 21 goals this season.

But it wasn’t just players who got the spotlight. The Best Refereeing Team Awards for 2024/2025 went to:

  • Best Referee: Mohammed Al-Shammari
  • Best First Assistant Referee: Juma Al-Borshaid
  • Best Second Assistant Referee: Khaled Khalaf
  • Best VAR Referee: Abdulrahman Al-Jassim

And for the first time ever, fans got their flowers. The Best Fans Award was handed to the ever-energetic Al-Sadd Club stand, whose unmatched passion lit up the league all season long.

From pitch to stands, the QFA Awards 2025 made it clear — Qatar’s football scene is thriving, and the best is yet to come.
