Khamenei State Funeral Postponed, New Date Pending

Iran’s planned state funeral for Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has been postponed, according to state media.

The ceremony was originally scheduled to begin Wednesday evening, but officials confirmed it will no longer proceed as planned. A new date has not yet been announced.

Why It Was Delayed

State-affiliated Fars News Agency reported that the event was pushed back due to the anticipated presence of millions of mourners and the need to prepare proper infrastructure.

Initially, authorities had said mourning ceremonies would begin at 10pm Wednesday and continue for three nights.

National Mourning Continues

While the official funeral ceremony is on hold, three days of national mourning will still go ahead.

Public gatherings, including events in squares across Tehran, are expected to continue as planned, according to local officials.

For now, the timeline for the state funeral remains unclear, with authorities saying an updated schedule will be announced later.
