Google Cloud Celebrates 1-Year Anniversary with Doha Summit

Google Cloud proudly commemorated the first anniversary of its Doha Google Cloud region with the premier Google Cloud Doha Summit on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. Held under the esteemed patronage of His Excellency Mr. Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, the event highlighted a year of significant progress, innovation, and collaboration in Qatar's digital landscape.

The summit, convened at Stadium 974 in Doha, convened over 1,000 attendees, including Google Cloud partners, customers, government officials, and industry leaders. It served as a platform to reflect on the achievements of the past year and explore the future of cloud computing and AI in Qatar.

Assistant Undersecretary for Infrastructure and Operations Affairs at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Mr. Sami Mohammed Al Shammari, extended congratulations to Google Cloud on their successful year in Qatar. He emphasized the valuable contribution of Google Cloud to the country's digital development and expressed anticipation for further advancements through continued collaboration.

Abdul Rahman Al Thehaiban, Managing Director, Turkey, Middle East & Africa, Google Cloud reiterated the commitment to Qatar's digital and knowledge-based economy. He underscored Google Cloud's dedication to infrastructure investment, service innovation, and ecosystem development to unlock Qatar's digital potential.

Regional Country Manager at Google Cloud, Ghassan Kosta, hailed the milestone as a testament to Qatar's digital growth. He reaffirmed Google Cloud's dedication to fostering a thriving ecosystem where businesses, government entities, and individuals can leverage AI to drive economic growth.

The Doha Google Cloud region, the first of its kind in the Middle East and Africa, has witnessed remarkable adoption of Google Cloud's services and solutions by businesses across sectors. This adoption underscores the transformative power of cloud computing and Google Cloud's commitment to empowering organizations in Qatar.

The summit featured insights from Anthony Cirot, VP EMEA South at Google Cloud, who highlighted the latest innovations in AI and cloud computing. Cirot emphasized Google Cloud's mission to accelerate digital transformation and make AI accessible for all.

Industry leaders, including Sheikh Ali Bin Jabor Al-Thani, Chief Executive Officer of Ooredoo Qatar, shared insights into data transformation partnerships with Google Cloud. Sheikh Ali highlighted the role of generative AI in driving Ooredoo Qatar's future goals.

Throughout the event, Google Cloud showcased customer and partner innovations in cloud technologies and AI, including collaborations with prominent organizations such as Ooredoo Qatar, Qatar University, and Qatar Chemical Company.
