The Islamic calendar follows the lunar cycle, which means important religious dates shift by about 11 days each year. Eid Al Adha always falls on the 10th day of Dhul Hijjah. The Day of Arafah, which is the ninth day of the month and considered one of the holiest days in Islam, will be observed on Thursday, June 5 in these countries.

Authorities in both Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates announced that the crescent moon was seen on May 27. This sets Wednesday, May 28 as the first day of Dhul Hijjah. With this, Eid Al Adha will be celebrated on Friday, June 6, following the Day of Arafah on June 5.

Qatar and Oman follow the same schedule
