The visit is expected to focus on securing up to $1 trillion in Saudi investments and exploring US support for the kingdom’s major development projects. Trump, known for his showy state visits, is also expected to participate in a high-profile welcome ceremony similar to his 2017 visit.

Saudi Arabia pushes global diplomacy

Saudi Arabia is aiming to strengthen its global presence, particularly in conflict mediation. The kingdom recently hosted talks related to the war in Ukraine, and officials are expected to bring more diplomatic issues to the table during Trump’s visit. Discussions may also include regional partnerships and defense cooperation.

Qatar visit clouded by jet controversy

Trump’s next stop is Qatar, where a $400 million private jet offer has stirred debate. The Qatari government has confirmed that the plane may be temporarily transferred for use as Air Force One, but stressed that no final decision has been made. Trump called the offer “a great gesture,” but critics in the US have raised concerns over national security and ethics.

Qatar’s Ministry of Defense and the US Department of Defense are currently reviewing the deal through legal channels.

UAE next on the itinerary

Trump will conclude his Gulf tour with a visit to the UAE later this week. While details of the UAE stop remain limited, sources suggest that discussions will cover economic ties, regional development, and US involvement in Gulf infrastructure projects.

Trump is expected to return to the US before the weekend.
