The US and Iran are set to have nuclear talks in Oman, as confirmed by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

Araghchi wrote on social media on Monday, Apr. 7, that the two countries will have indirect talks on Saturday, Apr. 12.

The foreign minister is set to meet the US envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, during which Oman will be a mediator.

US President Donald Trump told reporters in the White House on Monday, "We’re having direct talks with Iran, and they’ve started. It’ll go on Saturday. We have a very big meeting, and we’ll see what can happen."

He also said, "And I think everybody agrees that doing a deal would be preferable." However, President Trump warned Iran about the consequences if diplomatic efforts to curb their ambitions failed. He went on to say that Tehran "can't have nuclear weapons".
