Qatar Closes Airspace Temporarily Due to Regional Conflict

Qatar announced on Monday, June 23, that it will temporarily close its airspace as a precautionary measure because of the ongoing war between Iran and Israel.

The country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has released a statement, explaining how it is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with regional and international partners. 

The ministry has promised to provide updates to the public through its official channels.

The announcement came after the US struck Iran's nuclear sites on Saturday, June 21, which led to further cancellations of flights by regional airlines

A report about Iran closing the Strait of Hormuz by Iranian state media has led to global panic since almost a fifth of the world's crude oil supply is exported through that corridor. On Monday, oil prices hit a five-month high after the US' strikes on Iran.
