US Sends More Warplanes to Middle East Over Israel-Iran War

The US is sending additional fighter jets and extending the stay of others in the Middle East as part of its efforts to respond to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran. According to US officials, the move is aimed at strengthening defensive capabilities in the region.

The latest deployment involves advanced F-16, F-22, and F-35 fighter aircraft—many of which are already in the area. The decision comes as Washington looks to protect its troops and allies from possible attacks linked to the growing Israel-Iran tensions.

Defensive move to protect US troops and allies

US defense officials described the deployment as “defensive,” meant to intercept threats such as drones and missiles. The US already has around 40,000 troops stationed in the region, along with air defense systems and warships capable of shooting down enemy missiles.

As part of a broader strategy, additional US Navy warships might also be sent to the Eastern Mediterranean to further increase missile defense capacity. The Pentagon has yet to release an official comment on the latest movements.

What triggered the buildup?

The escalation began when Israel launched a large-scale air assault on Iran last Friday, claiming that Tehran was close to building a nuclear weapon. In response, Iran has maintained that its nuclear program is strictly for peaceful energy purposes, citing its rights under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

The US is closely monitoring the situation, with military options ready to counter any potential retaliation from Iran or its regional allies.
