Qatar Airways Suspends Flights as Airspace Remains Closed

Qatar Airways has confirmed that all flight operations remain suspended on Monday, March 2, following the closure of Qatari airspace by civil aviation authorities. The airline announced that services will only resume once the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority announces the safe reopening of the country's airspace.

In an operational update, the national carrier of Qatar stated: "Qatar Airways flight operations remain temporarily suspended due to the closure of Qatari airspace. Qatar Airways will resume operations once the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority announces the safe reopening of Qatar's airspace."

The airline shared on its social media that it will provide another update on Tuesday, March 3, at 9:00 a.m. (Doha time).

The decision comes as the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Iraq and Qatar have all closed their airspaces following the intensification of the conflict between Iran and Israel. On Saturday morning, the United States and Israel launched strikes against several cities in Iran, which was met with retaliatory missile attacks from Tehran.

Qatar Airways noted that delays and other disruptions may still occur even after operations restart once the airspace is reopened. The airline is working closely with government authorities and relevant stakeholders to manage the situation and minimize passenger inconvenience.

As a precautionary measure, Qatar Airways is employing additional staff at Hamad International Airport and other major airports to assist passengers affected by the suspension. Passengers are advised to check the airline's official channels for the latest updates on flight status and resumption schedules.

The airspace closure has caused significant disruption to air travel across South Asia and the Middle East, with multiple countries shutting their skies and airlines cancelling or rerouting flights. Airports including those in Delhi and Dubai have reported delays and passenger chaos as the regional conflict continues to impact global aviation operations.

Qatar Airways continues to monitor the situation closely and will provide further updates as developments unfold regarding the airspace reopening and the resumption of normal flight operations.
