Palestinian Journalist Killed in Israeli Attack on Hospital

The Palestinian journalist Hassan Eslaih was killed in a "targeted attack" on the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis in southern Gaza.

Israel's army admitted to carrying out the attack, which killed two people, including Eslaih.

Gaza's Government Media Office confirmed the killing of Eslaih, who was receiving medical care at the hospital's burn unit for the injuries he had sustained in the April 7 Israeli strike on the media tent near the hospital.

Hassan Eslaih was the director of the Alam24 News Agency and a freelancer who contributed to international news organizations.

Israel has claimed that Eslaih was a Hamas fighter who participated in the October 7 attack, an allegation the journalist rejected.

At least 178 journalists and media workers have been killed in Palestine, Israel, and Lebanon since the beginning of the war, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists.

The death toll of journalists and media workers in Gaza is 215, according to Gaza's Government Media Office.
