Several countries have officially confirmed that Eid Al Adha 2025 will be observed on Saturday, June 7, instead of June 6. This is due to the moon not being sighted on Tuesday, May 27, which delays the start of Dhul Hijjah to Thursday, May 29.

Why the Eid date changes
The Islamic calendar follows the lunar cycle, so important events like Eid Al Adha depend on moon sightings. If the moon is not visible, the new month starts a day later. As a result, some countries will celebrate Eid a day after others.
Eid Al Adha is observed on the 10th day of Dhul Hijjah, which comes after Arafah Day, an important date that falls on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah. These two days hold deep spiritual meaning in Islam, especially for those performing Hajj.

Countries celebrating Eid on June 7
These nations will begin Dhul Hijjah on May 29 and mark Eid Al Adha on June 7:

Malaysia: Local officials confirmed the moon was not sighted, making Thursday the first day of Dhul Hijjah.

Brunei: Similar to Malaysia, Brunei’s authorities also did not see the moon, confirming Eid will fall on Saturday.

Pakistan: The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced the moon wasn’t visible, setting the Eid date as June 7.
