The first-ever Doha Photography Award is here — and it’s throwing down more than QR 2 million in prizes to celebrate creativity behind the lens. Organized by the Qatar Photography Center under the Ministry of Culture, the competition is open to photographers worldwide, no matter your age or experience.

Key Dates to Know

Submissions are open from August 10 to October 2, 2025. So, if you’ve got a camera and a creative eye, you’ve got less than two months to shoot your shot.

Six Categories to Choose From

The award features six main categories:

  • Qatar Category – capturing the country’s landmarks (grand prize QR 300,000!)

  • General (Colors)

  • General (Black & White)

  • Special Theme: Emotions

  • Story Theme – a series of images telling a full visual story

  • General (Under 18) – for young Qatari talents

Other top spots in each category come with QR 150,000, QR 100,000, and QR 75,000.

Rules of the Game

All entries must be shot on professional cameras — no AI-generated images allowed. Photos should be clean of logos or watermarks and meet the award’s technical quality standards.

Why It’s a Big Deal

Director Jassim Ahmed Al Buainain says the goal is to give photographers a global stage to share work that reflects Qatar’s beauty while embracing talent from everywhere. With the massive prize pool and international spotlight, this is set to be one of the region’s hottest photo contests.
