With 50,321 fans flooding through the gates over three adrenaline-pumping days, this year’s MotoGP Qatar opener proved once again that when it comes to motorsport vibes, Qatar doesn’t play. From skydiving paratroopers to a stunning fireworks finale, the weekend was more than just a race — it was an event.

A Showstopper from Start to Finish

The action kicked off in true high-octane fashion with paratroopers from the Qatar Air Sports Committee dropping in (literally), followed by a freestyle bike stunt show that got the crowd roaring. The vibe? Electric.

Then came the MotoGP main event, and it did not disappoint. Marc Marquez, the Ducati Lenovo Team star, delivered a flawless ride across 21 laps, clocking in at 41:29.186 and snatching his third win out of four this season. He stood tall (and grinning) on the top step of the podium under Lusail’s iconic floodlights and a booming fireworks show.

Hot on his tail was Maverick Viñales of Red Bull KTM Tech3, trailing by 1.800 seconds, and Francesco Bagnaia, Marquez’s teammate, who closed the podium just over four seconds behind the leader.

Big Speeds, Bigger Crowd Energy

“We are truly delighted to have hosted world-class motorsport action for fans in Qatar and the region,” said Abdulrahman bin Abdullatif Al-Mannai, President of QMMF and Lusail Circuit. He called the event a step forward in cementing Qatar as a go-to destination for major sporting events.

Meanwhile, Lusail Circuit CEO Abdulaziz Ali Al Mohannadi added: “The enthusiasm from fans has been overwhelming, and we're delighted to have delivered an unforgettable experience both on and off the track.”

And yeah — the off-track experience slapped too. Fans hit up the Hero Walk to snap selfies with their favorite riders, and the Fan Zone was buzzing with simulator races, go-karting, illusion shows, and live music.

The Other Races? Absolute Nail-Biters

  • In Moto3™, Spain’s Angel Piqueras edged out a photo-finish win, clocking 33'17.268, just 0.009 seconds ahead of Taiyo Furusato.

  • Moto2™ saw Aron Canet (Fantic Motor) fly to victory in 35:30.185, with Deniz Oncu and Manuel Gonzalez trailing closely.

  • The Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup had a Japanese podium sweep, with Ryota Ogiwara leading a pack of fast-rising young riders.

What’s Next?

With Round 1 of the 2025 MotoGP™ World Championship officially in the books, teams are packing up and hitting the road — but not without taking a bit of that Lusail magic with them. The Qatar GP kicked off the season with all the right energy, and if this weekend was any indication, the rest of the season is going to be an absolute banger.
