£500K Raised at Star-Studded Wembley Concert for Palestine

Wembley Arena was packed to the brim this week as some of Britain’s biggest stars joined Palestinian artists for Together for Palestine, a charity concert raising money for humanitarian efforts. Benedict Cumberbatch, Florence Pugh, Damon Albarn, Paloma Faith, and Riz Ahmed were among the famous faces lending their talents.

Comedian Guz Khan hosted the night, while speeches, poetry, and art displays brought the cause front and center. By mid-show, organizers announced the concert had already raised more than half a million pounds for Palestinian-led charities.

Riz Ahmed Calls It “Global Solidarity”

Kicking things off, Riz Ahmed—who grew up in Wembley—told the crowd: “This is what community looks like. What we have here is local voices but global solidarity.”

Outside the venue, supporters waved massive Palestinian flags while attendees donned T-shirts, pins, and jackets with messages of solidarity.

Powerful Words and Performances

The evening wasn’t just about music. Holocaust survivor Stephen Kapos spoke about parallels between his childhood under Nazi rule and the plight of Palestinians today. Journalist Yara Eid honored the 270 journalists killed in Gaza, while Mehdi Hasan blasted Western media for ignoring their deaths.

Onstage, audiences heard poetry by Mahmoud Darwish read by Benedict Cumberbatch and Ruth Negga, while Palestinian art—including works from Gaza-born Malak Mattar—lit up the giant screen behind performers.

UN Report Adds Context

The concert came just days after a two-year United Nations investigation concluded that Israel has committed genocide in Gaza—the first time a UN body has used such language. Israel’s foreign ministry rejected the report as “antisemitic” and “false.”
