Veteran Pakistani actress Ayesha Khan passed away at 76 in Karachi, Pakistan, this week, a senior police official confirmed on Friday, June 20.
Khan lived alone for several years and remained withdrawn from public life. Her body was discovered in an apartment in Karachi's Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 7 in a decomposed state.
Neighbors alerted the police after noticing that a foul odor was emanating from her residence. Authorities arrived at the apartment and transferred the body to the Jinnah Hospital for medical and legal formalities to determine the cause and time of death.
After the initial examination, her body was transferred to the mortuary. The police have launched an investigation and are asking neighbors about Khan's final days.

Ayesha Khan was a celebrated TV actress and the elder sister of actress Khalida Riyasat. Khan was renowned for her performances in famous Pakistani dramas including Akhri Chattan, Tipu Sultan: The Tiger Lord, Dehleez, Daraarein, and Ek Aur Aasman.
She also appeared in Pakistani films, including Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman, Muskaan, and Fatima.
As the news started circulating on social media, tributes from the Pakistani entertainment industry and fans poured in, including from Pakistani actor Adnan Siddiqui.
