Roysten Abel’s “The Manganiyar Selection” to Enthrall Doha on This Date

The renowned Indian director Roysten Abel is bringing his acclaimed production 'The  Manganiyar  Selection' to Doha for one night only, as part of the Qatar Creates Fall/Winter 2025 programme.

The performance is scheduled for October 27 at the iconic Katara Amphitheatre in collaboration with the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art in New Delhi.

Described as a “symphony of sound and sight,” the show features the hauntingly beautiful music of Rajasthan’s Manganiyar folk-community, presented inside a striking stage design of illuminated red cubicles that come alive in rhythm and light.

Over its run, the production has captivated audiences in more than 25 countries, including major cultural venues such as New York’s Lincoln Center, Washington’s Kennedy Center and London’s The Barbican.

This Doha appearance is part of Qatar Museums’ broader campaign Evolution Nation — a tribute to 20 years of the organisation and 50 years of the nation’s cultural endeavour — which aims to connect heritage, creativity and innovation.

The show’s integration of Indian folk tradition with contemporary theatre underscores the expanding global-cultural reach of Doha’s arts agenda.

Tickets for the event are being offered at various tiers (QR70, QR135 and QR200) and are available through the Qatar Creates website. For visitors and residents in Doha, this represents a rare opportunity to experience a luminous work of musical-theatre that bridges the desert landscapes of Rajasthan with the cultural stage of Qatar.
