Qatar's Ministry of Public Heath Announces Temporary Closure of Flamingo Restaurant

Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has announced the temporary closure of Flamingo Restaurant after inspections found breaches of food safety regulations, the ministry confirmed on its official website.

The closure took effect on December 17, 2025, and will remain in place for 30 days. According to MoPH, the decision was made after the establishment was found to be in violation of Law No. 08 of 1990 on the Regulation of Human Food and its amendments, designed to protect public health and ensure food safety standards are met.

Flamingo Restaurant’s Salwa Road location is specifically affected, with the restaurant’s own communications indicating the closure applies to that branch. The restaurant’s official responses have pointed to the temporary nature of the action as health authorities carry out their mandated enforcement work.

MoPH regularly inspects food establishments across Qatar to ensure compliance with health and safety laws, and closures are enacted when violations pose a risk to public safety. The ministry has urged all food businesses to adhere strictly to food safety requirements and for the public to report concerns via official channels.

The 30-day suspension of Flamingo Restaurant highlights Qatar’s ongoing commitment to upholding high health standards in the food and hospitality sectors.
