Qatar Says Iranian Strikes Hit Naval Base Buildings in Bahrain

Qatar has confirmed that buildings housing members of its naval forces were among those targeted in Iranian strikes in Bahrain overnight, though all personnel remain safe and unharmed.

In a statement released on Friday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar strongly condemned the attack, saying it targeted facilities in the Bahraini capital that housed members of the Qatari Emiri Naval Forces.

“The State of Qatar strongly condemns the Iranian attack targeting buildings in various parts of the Kingdom of Bahrain, housing members of the Qatari Emiri Naval Forces participating in the Unified Maritime Operations Center of the Gulf Cooperation Council's Unified Military Command,” the ministry said.

The statement added that all personnel present in the targeted buildings were safe.

“The Qatari Emiri Naval Forces personnel present in the targeted buildings are safe and unharmed,” it said.

Earlier on Friday, authorities in Bahrain reported that Iranian strikes had hit several structures in the capital, Manama. Officials initially said the attack struck two hotels and a residential building but later corrected the information, confirming that the strikes hit a hotel and two residential buildings instead.

The targeted locations were believed to house personnel connected to the Gulf Cooperation Council’s unified maritime security operations. The facilities are part of broader regional cooperation aimed at strengthening maritime safety and coordination among GCC member states.

Qatar reiterated its condemnation of the strike, emphasising concerns over regional security and the safety of personnel participating in joint military operations.

The incident marks another escalation in tensions across the Gulf region, as governments closely monitor developments and assess potential impacts on regional security and cooperation.
