Jordanian Royal Family Shares Heartfelt Tributes on Queen Rania's Birthday

Jordan’s Queen Rania marked her 55th birthday on Sunday with warm tributes from members of the royal family and the unveiling of a new official portrait.

Crown Prince Hussein took to social media to honor his mother, posting a photo alongside his wife Princess Rajwa. “Happy birthday to my loving mother. God bless you,” he wrote.

The Royal Hashemite Court also shared a photograph of Queen Rania with King Abdullah II, accompanied by the message: “Wishing Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah many happy returns on the occasion of her birthday.”

Ahead of the celebrations, a striking new portrait of the queen was released. Standing beneath an elegant archway, Queen Rania is pictured in a teal textured maxi dress with billowing sleeves and a high neckline, accessorized simply with silver hoop earrings and soft curls.

This year has been a significant one for the queen. She represented Jordan at Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, where she inaugurated the country’s pavilion and highlighted Jordan’s heritage and commitment to sustainability. She also amplified her advocacy for children’s rights, addressing the World Summit on Children’s Rights at the Vatican.

“Today, one in six children on Earth live in areas affected by conflict. Every day, dozens of them are killed or maimed,” she said, calling for an end to violence in Gaza and condemning “a status quo that deems some children's suffering acceptable, based on their name, faith or the land of their birth.”

In Jordan, Queen Rania has continued championing women’s empowerment and local economic development, visiting businesses in Amman and artisan initiatives in Al Salt.

The royal family also welcomed new additions this year. Princess Iman and her husband Jameel Alexander Thermiotis welcomed their first child, Princess Amina, in February. Months earlier, Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa celebrated the birth of their daughter, Princess Iman, in August 2024.

Queen Rania, admired globally for her humanitarian work, remains one of the most influential voices in the Arab world, balancing her roles as a royal, advocate, and grandmother.
