India Claims Attacks on Nine Sites in Pakistan

India initiated 'Operation Sindoor,' claiming to have conducted missile strikes on nine locations within Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, May 7.

Pakistan claims that three cities were hit. This action was in response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack, where 26 civilians, primarily Hindu tourists, were killed by unidentified gunmen.

The Indian Ministry of Defence stated that the operation targeted terrorist infrastructure in Muzaffarabad, Kotli, and Bahawalpur, emphasizing that no Pakistani military installations were struck. The strikes were described as "focused, measured, and non-escalatory".

Pakistan reported that the attacks resulted in at two civilian deaths and 12 injured. A mosque and residential areas were among the damaged sites. The spokesman for Pakistan's armed forces has vowed to respond "at a time and place of our choosing".

Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif wrote on X, "Pakistan has every right to give a befitting reply to this act of war imposed by India and a befitting reply is being given."

As the situation develops, both nations remain on high alert, with the potential for further escalation in the already volatile region.
