Raul Rocha, president and co-owner of the Miss Universe Organization, has been charged by Mexico’s Attorney General for alleged involvement in drug, fuel, and arms trafficking between Guatemala and Mexico. Rocha also serves as Guatemala’s consul in Mexico.

According to authorities, Rocha is considered a leader of a criminal network moving fuel via the Usumacinta River and transporting it by truck to Querétaro.

Arrest Warrant and Raids

On August 6, an agent of Mexico’s Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime requested an arrest warrant against Rocha. Authorities reportedly raided several properties, seizing financial records including a contribution of 2.1 million pesos allegedly tied to the criminal operation.

The FGR claims Rocha’s network has connections with politicians and officials across multiple government levels to carry out trafficking of hydrocarbons, narcotics, and large quantities of firearms.

Miss Universe Controversies Continue

The charges arrive days after Miss Universe 2025, a pageant already mired in drama. Contestants walked out of a pre-pageant event, judges resigned, and accusations of scoring misconduct surfaced. Rocha reportedly sanctioned pageant executive Nawat Itsaragrisil, barring him from further involvement after public criticism of Miss Mexico Fátima Bosch, who later won the crown.

No Comment From Rocha or Miss Universe

Neither Rocha nor the Miss Universe Organization have responded to requests for comment. Reports also note Rocha approached authorities in October, offering information in a plea deal in exchange for immunity.
