The 23-year-old “Birds of a Feather” singer scooped up Artist of the Year, beating out big names like Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar, and Morgan Wallen. In total, Eilish walked away with a clean sweep of seven awards, including Album of the Year and Favorite Touring Artist.
“This is so crazy. I feel speechless,” Billie said in a video message from her Europe tour. “I wish I could be there tonight.”
Her latest album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, dropped in May 2024 and clearly hit all the right notes with fans — who cast every AMA vote.
Also winning big was Gracie Abrams, named New Artist of the Year, who accepted remotely with a heartfelt message: “They have reminded me of the light that exists out there,” she said of her fans.
SZA snagged two major honors — Favorite R&B Female Artist and R&B Song of the Year for Saturn. Meanwhile, Becky G was crowned Favorite Latin Female Artist.
In a surprise crossover moment, Beyoncé picked up her first-ever country music AMAs, winning Favorite Country Album for Cowboy Carter and *Favorite Female Country Artist. Though she didn’t attend, the Queen B made history with her genre-blending win.
The live CBS broadcast kicked off with Jennifer Lopez opening the show with an electric six-minute medley of bangers, including Birds of a Feather, Espresso by Sabrina Carpenter, and Beyoncé’s Texas Hold ‘Em.
Legendary moments followed: Janet Jackson received the Icon Award, telling the crowd, “I don’t consider myself an icon. The one thing that I hope for is that I’m an inspiration for others to follow their dreams.”
Rod Stewart, 80 years young, was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award, dancing through Forever Young and reminding everyone of his humble roots: “I didn’t want to be rich or famous. I just wanted to sing.”
While some fan favorites like Taylor Swift, Post Malone, and Kendrick Lamar didn’t make it to the ceremony, the vibe stayed electric. Kendrick, who led nominations with ten, won just one — Favorite Hip-Hop Song for Not Like Us.
In true Gen Z fashion, the 2025 AMAs proved you don’t have to be in the room to own the night. Billie Eilish just did it from across the ocean.
