72% of Qatar 2022 World Cup Stadiums Waste Sorted for Recycling
As a lot as 72% of waste generated at stadiums of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and different venues of related activities have been segregated for recycling purposes.
Minister of Municipality H.E. Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie stated that "About 80,000 tons of waste used to be collected from venues of the mega wearing event," while speaking at an event organized through the Ministry of Municipality at Al Rayan Park yesterday.

The Minister honored a variety of employees and teams from different departments of the Ministry at the tournament for their exceptional performances and devoted offerings in helping the World Cup.
The waste gathered from the settings of the World Cup has been isolated into organic, plastic, metal, digital, and cardboard. The excess waste is shipped off to the Service of District's Homegrown Strong Waste Administration Community for additional treatment in a waste-to-energy plant.
The activity which was propelled by the Service of Region with a zero squander to landfill objective is portion of gigantic endeavors of the State to convey the foremost feasible and carbon-neutral FIFA World Cup.
"Municipal waste recycling and disposal bureaus have made remarkable achievements in the field of waste segregation and recycling, contributing to the success of the World Cup," said the local government minister.
He said that "72 percent of waste produced at stadiums of World Glass and other related scenes, has been sorted out for reusing purposes."
The minister commended the efforts of the General Cleanliness Department and all local governments to remove some 80,000 tons of waste from the World Cup venues during the Games.
He said that according to the action plan, the Department sent cleaning equipment, vehicles, and containers to collect garbage from eight World Cup stadiums and other related events. He commended the efforts of all the ministry's teams to support the World Cup activities, including the restoration and development of 8 beaches as part of the first phase of the project, which includes 18 beaches.
The Municipality Minister elaborated on the fact that the World Health Organization has awarded all Qatari cities the title of Healthy City, as Qatar is the first in the eastern Mediterranean region to have awarded this title to all cities due to its great efforts in applying the fundamentals and standards for Environment, Health and Sustainability Cities, which is one of the most important indicators of healthy cities.
He also commended the achievements of the Public Parks Department in establishing the Doha 2023 Expo Fan Zone Pavilion in the Garden with the slogan (“Green Desert, Better Environment”), opening the Panda House Park and several new parks, and decorating the main street, Parks, and squares with flowers and landscapes.
"There has been a huge boom in the number of public parks in recent years, as the number has increased from 56 parks in 2010 to 148 parks in 2022, i.e., by 164%." The minister added.
